about

At last: the second album from Leonie Singt. Five years after their self-titled debut, the album Horizont by visual artist and musician Leonie Felle and her band is being released. The journey for Leonie Felle and her colleagues has taken five long years from the deep, dark lake that graced the first cover (a photograph by Leonie), to the horizon, the new album.
Leonie Felle: “The title song »Horizont« is about losing balance and trying to regain it. For me, the horizon is the balance. The balance in the song has been tipped. The centre of gravity and the centre have been lost.”
Many of Leonie Felle’s works as a visual artist arise from, or are supplemented by her songs. This is also the case with the title song »Horizont« (see: leonie-felle.de/horizont).
The accompanying artwork consists of the lyrics for the song, an old wooden rudder, and a photograph – a self-portrait with this rudder. A variation of this work is used on the album cover, which was created together with drummer Sascha Schwegeler (G.Rag y los
Hermanos Patchekos).
The album Horizont was recorded, produced and mixed by the French musician Fred Raspail (also a gutfeeling artist). The result is a German and English-language, singer-songwriter album that crosses back and forth between the ports of folk, indie and chanson. At the wheel Leonie Felle with her beautiful dark voice and her poetry, which is certainly melancholic, often dark and sad. But hey, isn’t there a glimmer of hope on the horizon?
Her crew – to stick with the nautical terminology – consists of the aforementioned Sascha Schwegeler on drums, the photographer and director, and Leonie’s partner Hagen Keller on guitar, and Jakob Egenrieder, also a visual artist, on bass. Gutfeeling is
proud to present this family affair, because all of the artists and musicians involved are an integral part of our family at the gutfeeling label.
